At Boulder Brim, our process is rooted in the belief that the right silhouette can transform the most hesitant hat wearer into someone who can no longer imagine life before their brim.
Whether you arrive with a clear vision or simply a curiosity to explore, each piece is developed by hand through a collaborative, tailored approach designed to guide you toward the fit, shape, and style that feels natural, flattering, and unexpectedly right.
More than simply creating something beautiful to wear, our intention is to create something that feels as good as it looks.
how it works
01. the vision
Every hat begins with a conversation. Whether you come in with a clear point of view or only the sense that you want something different, we begin by exploring your style, the role the hat is meant to play, and the overall feeling you want it to carry. This first step helps shape the creative direction of the piece.02. the foundation
From there, we select the right foundation for your hat — guided by silhouette, material, and overall aesthetic. From refined fedoras to classic cowboy hats and western-inspired styles, this stage sets the tone for everything that follows.03. the fit
A beautiful hat begins with the right fit. We consider head shape, comfort, scale, and proportion to ensure the piece feels balanced, flattering, and genuinely wearable. For many clients, this is the moment a hat begins to feel not just stylish, but truly right.04. the shape
Using steam and hand-shaping techniques, the crown, brim, and overall silhouette are refined with care and intention. This is where the hat begins to take on its form and personality — creating the shape and character that are aligned with the person wearing it and set the stage for the details to follow.05. the details
The design comes to life through the details. Hat bands, stitching, pins, rivets, branded elements, and bespoke accents are layered with care to bring depth, texture, individuality, and expression to the piece. Many hats are also completed with a meaningful heirloom or personal memento — a cherished pin, vintage button, small trinket, or other keepsake woven into the design.06. the finish
The final step is about refinement — the subtle adjustments that bring the entire piece into balance. From shape and fit to the overall composition of the design, each final detail is considered with care so the hat feels cohesive, comfortable, and complete. The result is a piece shaped by hand and designed to be worn with confidence.“The process is so much fun and the finished product is a work of art.”

“Rebecca is incredible! She has curated such a warm, welcoming space and makes the whole experience feel truly special. She listened to my ideas, added her creative magic, and brought my vision to life even better than I imagined. Designing my hat with her was so much fun. It was a collaborative and comfortable experience. She went above and beyond - she made a matching pocket square for my fiancé and bandana for my dog for our engagement photos.
